Villard Square, an apartment development that will be targeted to senior citizens and their grandchildren, will have a groundbreaking ceremony at 11:30 a.m. Friday, at W. Villard Ave. and N. 35th St.
The new building wil include a new Milwaukee Public Library branch, replacing the current Villard Avenue Library. The project developers are Gorman & Co. and Northwest Side Community Development Corp.
The 47-unit Villard Square will be among a small but growing group of U.S. apartment developments that combine senior housing with kid-friendly features. The idea is to put children from broken homes into a stable environment.
