Madison-based development company is acknowledged by Wisconsin Builder and The Daily Reporter as a 2006 Newsmaker

Gorman & Company, a Madison-based leader in real estate development, was named Developer of the Year at a special celebration Wednesday evening in Milwaukee to honor those named 2006 Newsmakers by Wisconsin Builder and The Daily Reporter.

Gorman & Company was selected for this prestigious award because of their leadership in the areas of affordable housing development and neighborhood revitalization, as well as for effective use of state funds through partnerships with such organizations and the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA), according to a statement from the publications.

“Our core mission is to revitalize communities through innovative housing partnerships,” says Tom Capp, chief operating officer for Gorman & Company. “Receiving this award is a wonderful acknowledgement that our work to offer affordable housing solutions has made a positive impact in the neighborhoods we serve.”

In addition to affordable housing and urban revitalization, Gorman & Company is known for the renovation and adaptive re-use of historic buildings. Earlier this year, the company won the Business Journal Serving Greater Milwaukee’s Real Estate Awards for the for its Historic Lofts on Kilbourn project, an adaptive re-use of the former Sinai Hospital in Milwaukee’s Avenues West neighborhood.
